8 Top Detroit Bailout Rants
As Congress and President Bush stagger through the final months of their respective terms, the storm clouds looming over Detroit have many screaming for action in what is typically a sleepy season on Capitol Hill. The United Auto Workers’ Union and and a coalition of key Democrats warn that if no action is taken, General Motors could run out of money as soon as January and be forced into bankruptcy—citing figures that as many as 2.5 million jobs could be lost if GM were to go under.
